The "Orca Explorer Adventure," is our longest running (more than 24 years) and the most popular adventure for couples, families, and groups of friends. One well established basecamp is used on each of these trips. Highlights like watching whales, daily kayaking, rain forest walks and creature comforts like on demand hot showers soaking make this a trip that is hard to beat. It seems to be the perfect number of days to get the North Island do the trip and get back home within the seven day week.

Trip starts with whale watching on our boat ride to our well established base camp on Sophia Island. Our location offers a great base to experience casual encounters with a constant flow of wildlife and offers a quick entry for our sea kayaks. Camp offers a comfortable glamping experience regardless of the weather. Each trip profiles a variety of activities for guests based on the best we can get out of each day and night of the trip. Eagles, ravens and a large number of waterfowl inhabit the surrounding area. Activities are planned each day to take in the best the day offers us. Our passion is kayaking but our wildlife encounters and observations often put a special spin to this four day trip

It is possible to see seven species of marine mammals (sea otters, orcas, white-sided dolphins and humpback whales with calves), eagles, ravens, bears and a large number of water fowl (harlequew ducks) without using binoculars. Land based whale watching is often a daily occurrence from our island base camp It is also a possibility to see black bear grubbing along the remote shorelines at low tides.
