Whales, Photography, Bears and Waterfowl

The "Johnstone Strait Explorer," is a four-day adventure trip that profiles whale and bear watching in Johnstone Strait and the South Broughton Areas. This a boat (Discovery Skiff) based exploration of the areas marine and land based wildlife. Locations will be visited to take advance of the wildife rookeries and migration routes of resident and transient whales in the area. Photography is the focus of each days activities combined with options to do kayaking or a zodiac tour for bear watching sessions. These trips will take advance of spontaneous encounters with feeding events for wildlife. Visits with summer researchers will be part of the weeks events or summer researcher will accompany us on our journey to enhance our understanding of conservation trends now and in the future.

Accommodations is at our base camp on Sophia Island. You will be boated into the island and taken each day of your trip to areas that provide wildlife viewing, cultural remains and 

You can expect to meet a number of local folks who are dedicated to keeping this jewel of nature as you see it now and in the future. Options include a visit to a native site with visible remains of a past culture and an opportunity to see a variety of land based animals from otters to black bears. Bears might include Black Bear and Grizzlies
